Some of you will have received letters about the Tayside Leagues. These are run within Midland District as a stand-alone, friendly set of galas that take place over each calendar year. Perth has entered a team into Premier Division for 2012. The League rules can be viewed Here. Here is a brief summary of what is involved;
Perth will swim in the Premier Division with 4 other teams: Arborath St Thomas, DCA, Forfar and Kinross.
Each team member will swim a maximum of both relays and one individual race
Points are awarded for placings and totalled for each meet to decide who will win the annual trophy.
The age groups for the Premier Division are 10 and under, 11/12, 13/14 and 15 and over, boys and girls.
It is important that you come to every gala you are selected for otherwise the other members of your age group will not be able to swim.
You should bring with you the following items for each gala you are selected for;
- £5 contribution towards buses, pool hire, league fees, equipment hire.
- Goggles and spares,
- Club tracksuit top/t-shirt/cap. More of these items will be available to order soon so keep an eye on the notice board and website for more news,
- Clean shoes to keep your feet warm on poolside and shorts or tracksuit trousers,
- Water bottle with water or juice, at least 500ml,
- High-carbohydrate, healthy snacks for during the competition (make sure you ask the coach before eating anything),
- 2 towels, for poolside and changing, plus a sports bag suitable to take it all with you onto poolside.
Bus times will be posted on the notice board and website. You must travel to and from the gala on the bus. If you are an official or team helper, you can travel with the team on the bus, but all other parents are very welcome to attend by private car to cheer the team on. Everyone must come to Perth Leisure Pool 15 minutes at least before the bus is due to leave (look for the docherty's coach) so that Team Managers can check everyone is there and ensure that the bus leaves on time.
Anyone who has any questions should ask at the Friday Club table, or discuss with Ann Dickson, or with Cat Hunter, who is in charge of the team in 2011.
